The design for früute, a very posh tartery(?), certainly not bakery, in West Hollywood is fantastic. It focus’ on the beauty of the tarts and delivers them in a clean and elegant way. The poster is especially mesmerizing, it feels like a periodic table of tarts.
Bravo, Ferroconcrete .
I love the illustration work of Cape Town design studio Radio. I especially love their postcard series. Then again I do believer you should be able to buy a postcard no matter where you are.
826 National is an organization that offers writing and tutoring centers for creative youths. The centers are funded by stores that carry theme related items. Each store has a crazy name, like Greenwood Space Travel Supply Co, and they have stores all over the U.S. I have yet to set foot into one, but I’d love to! A time travel store? Awesome. This one is the front for 826 Seattle.
I love this poster almost as much as I love 826 and all if it’s crazy stores. If you want a Map of the Universe visit their online store, or if you’re in the area the real honest to goodness brick one.
I love the look of this menu for For Enden Af Gaden, unfortunately it’s in some sort of Nordic language (Danish?) so I’m not sure what tastey vittles they’re selling. But the color and the type are amazing. I just wish their website had an actual HTML menu instead of a PDF (please stop doing this restaurants of the world!).
If you’d like to see more pictures of their various menus check them out over at Art of the Menue.
I love the fluid nature of mid-century art, especially commercial art and illustration. These are the best, I especially love the fashionable young lady watching TV while a Calder spins over her head.
I wish I had the book to actually read!
Im always on the look out for second hand books, so yesterday when I walked past a church with a sign outside saying ‘book fare’ I couldn’t resist!
Got this rather nice book; True to Type by Denys Parsons for £2. It was published in 1955. The yellow of the cover and its illustration caught my eye, the drawings in the book are by Haro. Can’t find anything online about Haro, which is a shame as the illustrations in this are really lovely and simple. Plus there are lots of them, way more than other old illustrated books I’ve almost bought before.
I love the mid-century modern furniture in the 3rd picture, and the policeman in the 4th. But they are all great!
In a strange coincidence I saw the exact same book minus the dust jacket for sale at the flea market today for the same price!
The rest of the illustrations and some more photos are on my flickr here
I love the work of Nick Agin, but this identity for Moon Mountain Vodka is stunning. I especially love all of the different labels.
Can I get them as a print?
(Sorry Photoshop)
I’m currently obsessed with creating postcards for fictional places. Specifically fictional places in horror movies. I’m trying to complete one a week, this week, if you haven’t guessed it, I focused on Rosemary’s Baby. Click the link above to read about the process.
